The "MAML™ Fundamentals for EP Practice" training is a 3-session online training programme designed to introduce the MAML™ framework to begin benefitting from it in your EP assessment and intervention practice.
What is the MAML™?
The MAML™ is a framework to guide the assessment and formulation of children & young people’s learning needs, to enable meaningful interventions to be created to support development. It helps practitioners focus on all the important aspects of the complex process of learning, in a theory driven and change-focused way.
The MAML™ framework is based on the Vygotskian assumption that children construct knowledge through adult support ("Mediation") and access to appropriate activities ("Tasks") to develop ‘tools of the mind’ ("Learner" skills). Thus, assessment of learning must consider the interaction between each of these aspects, or pillars of learning.
The MAML™ approach uses this theory to guide the consideration of three key assessment questions:
The MAML™ framework can be used in conjunction with a range of consultation, observation and assessment tools (both standardised and non-standardised and, particularly, Dynamic Assessment) to provide a full formulation of individual strengths and areas for intervention.
Who should apply for the MAML™ Fundamentals training?
This training is designed for Educational or school psychologists working with children and young people of all ages and abilities within school settings.
